The Designer
When I was younger, I started a small brand, designing shirts, buttons, stickers and stationery.
I loved taking a strange little idea and giving it a physical form, then knowing that something I created had made its way into someone else’s life.
I began working in graphic design at 19. As more of my time and creative energy went into building a stable career, that first venture gradually faded into the background. After 24 years in design, I still value the work, but established brands, guidelines and expectations do not always leave room to explore an idea simply because it feels interesting.
The need to create something entirely my own never disappeared. Darkwave became the place where I could follow that instinct again, shaping the fragrances, products, photography and smallest details exactly as I envisioned them. It gives the darker, stranger ideas in my head somewhere to exist.

The Candlemaker
I grew up in a Puerto Rican household where Halloween wasn’t celebrated, and trick-or-treating was completely off-limits. Maybe that distance only made it more fascinating. I was drawn to the costumes, glowing jack-o’-lanterns, haunted stories, and the magical feeling that seemed to surround the season each autumn. It felt darker and more mysterious than the world around me, like a little hidden place I wasn’t supposed to enter.
That curiosity never really left. Over the years, it found its way into my love of true crime, haunted history, old cemeteries, alternative music, and the unusual beauty that continues to shape Darkwave.
Fragrance has always been just as personal to me. I’ve collected perfumes for years, fascinated by how quickly a scent can pull you back into a memory, shift the mood of a room, or make an ordinary moment feel entirely different.
In 2023, I received a small candle-making kit for my birthday and found a new way to explore that obsession. I fell in love with blending fragrances, pouring wax, and creating scents that seemed to carry little worlds of their own. Darkwave became the place where fragrance, mood, and design could finally come together.
